Description
The region's lakes and rivers make this a dream destination for fishers. Among these is the legendary Moisie River, considered to be one of the biggest Atlantic salmon rivers in all of North America. It is most renowned for its spectacular panoramas and for the quality of the fish caught there.
The Moisie River is located on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, 26 kilometres east of Sept-Îles. The river flows gracefully from north to south, from Opocopa in Labrador to its mouth over a distance of roughly 500 km, before it empties into the Gulf of St. Lawrence near the village of Moisie. Its path is dotted with waterfalls, rapids and retention pools that are ideal for salmon. The species found there are Atlantic salmon, sea trout, Arctic char and brook trout.
Look to the APRM to purchase a permit, rent equipment, hire a guide and book campsites.
